FUN DAY OUT - Beginners Class

Have the exciting experience of learning the basic skills of how to work with this unique material, without the boring bits! The day will include basic bead shaping and decorating techniques.

 

10am - 4pm

1 Day: £150  |  2 Days: £280     Add an additional student for £90 per day.

STUDIO SET UP - Beginners Class

This class is ideal if you have plans to, or are considering setting up your own lampworking studio at home. The day will cover everything you need to know about equipment, health and safety, the material, suppliers, and of course a good range of basic bead making skills to get you started. There is a lot of information involved in this class (a real crash course in lampworking!), so 2 days are recommended. Class notes are supplied.

 

10am - 4pm

1 Day: £170 |  2 Days: £300  |  3 Days: £430     Add an additional student for £100 per day.

MINI TASTER CLASS - Beginners Class

Great if you would like to see if lampworking glass is for you. Learn to make your very first beads! A few basic shaping and decoration techniques are taught but emphasis is on experimenting with the material.

 

10am - 12.30pm or 1pm - 3.30pm

£75     Add an additional student for £50.

REFRESH - Beginners / Intermediate Class

If you've had some experience with lampworking but it's been a while since you've sat at the torch and are feeling a bit out of practise, then this class is ideal to get you back into the swing of making. We can spend time going over techniques you would like to brush up on, and even some new ones. The main aim is to get you feeling comfortable and confident with your making.

 

10am - 4pm

1 Day: £150  |  2 Days: £280  |  3 Days: £410     Add an additional student for £90 per day.

PROGRESS - Intermediate Class

The perfect follow up to any of the beginners classes. Learn different shaping techniques, working with foils, enamels, frits, stringers, wire, fuming, canes, dichroic, aventurine, and hollow beads.

LAMPWORKING GLASS CLASSES

Try your hand at working molten glass at the elk studio in your own private class. Whether you would like to try lampworking just for fun or if you would like to set up your own studio for your lampworking hobby, you are sure to enjoy your time being guided through the making process by Ema.

 

Ema loves to teach glass lampworking:  "I find it such a unique material to work with. To see the excitement on my students' faces as they create their own little works of art is wonderful."

LOCATION

Classes are run from the elk Studio Glass studio in westend Leicester, UK, 30 minutes walk from the city center with easy access from the M1 and M69 motorways. Please note the studio is not open to the public.

As all classes are private, they do not run on specific dates - just send an email with your desired dates to check availability. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Once a date has been agreed, you can pay for your class through the online shop. Further information about your class and directions will then be emailed to you.

Please note that torch time will be shared in classes for 2 people.

 

Gift Vouchers: Gift vouchers for lampworking classes are also available through the online shop. Please make sure to say that you would like a gift card sending to you in the post in the 'notes to seller' section during the checkout process or in a seperate email.

You do not need to book a date when ordering a voucher. Instructions on how to book the class dates are printed on the voucher, so the recipient can choose a date to suit them.

BOOKING & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All students get to keep the demonstration beads made during the class as well as their own.

Materials and drinks will be provided, but students will need to bring their own lunch.

Suitable clothing should be worn for classes (ie. nothing too precious).  Overshirts to work in are available if needed.

 

Classes consist of alternating between demonstrations and then students having a go for themselves; all the time giving as much detailed explanation about the techniques as possible.
